Psychotherapy for individuals
I have over 20 years of experience helping clients work through relationship issues, trauma and loss, anxiety and depression, uprooting and relocation and other life changes and transitions.
My treatment approach is to provide support, compassion and practical feedback as well as in depth analysis to help clients understand and address current life challenges and long-standing issues.
I work with the client's strength and help him / her find resolution to a wide range of personal concerns, such as low self esteem, shyness and loneliness, anger and confusion, search for personal identity and spirituality.
I draw from a wide range of healing modalities: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and EMDR, relaxation techniques, visualizations, guided Imagery, dream analysis and more.
I offer a personalized approach tailored to each of my clients' needs. I empower and help them develop individual strengths, attain personal growth and achieve life goals. I am fluent in English and Hebrew.
I am NYS Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in private practice in Manhattan, New York.
I received my CSW from Yeshiva University and my certificate in Psychoanalysis and Comprehensive Psychotherapy from the National Institute for the Psychotherapies (NIP) in NYC. I am also certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and in EMDR and integrate Spirituality, mindfulness, visualizations and relaxation techniques into my work.
I developed my observing eye, ear and heart in my former career in literature and education. While writing my PhD thesis on Hebrew literature of fantasy, I was drawn to Freud and Jung and found my new calling. I'm still very much connected to my literary past. I love literature, am an avid reader and have been writing poetry since 1992 in Hebrew and English. My Hebrew poetry book:"To Be Like Water" was published in Israel and single poems were published in Israel and US journals.
Having lived in diverse countries myself and my professional experience with ex-patriots, makes me a uniquely fit therapist for immigrants as well as young adults who recently moved to New York. I know first hand the pain and joy of uprooting and the struggle for successful adaptation. I have extensive experience working with the Israeli and Jewish (religious and non religious) communities in NY as well as the gay and lesbian population and have helped many people work through their difficulties and lead a more satisfying life.
